About Me

oban-mom1Hi!  I’m Catherine.   I am a wife of 35 to years to a wonderful husband and mother of four wonderful adult kids and a dog.  By day, I’m a market researcher in the healthcare industry.  I’m an Aries.   I’ve lived my whole life in the Northeast US.

Knowing I’m Aries won’t tell you much, because I never really thought I fit the profile, except for the independent nature part, but it might be more helpful to know that when I do the Myers-Briggs test, I come out as an “Idealist” which probably factors into one of the reasons I started this blog.

While I make my living in marketing now, since I’ve been young, I’ve wanted to be:

  • A nun
  • An artist
  • A teacher
  • A costume designer
  • An actor
  • A French translator at the UN
  • A journalist

I’ve actually never worked in any of those fields, although I came close to a few.  In addition to being a market researcher I wound up being:

  • A production assistant for a major broadcasting company
  • A family day-care provider
  • A newsletter writer
  • A stuffer of birds (soft sculpture, not taxidermy)
  • A public relations director for a school district

I read, therefore I am. Most recently, I’ve enjoyed reading Breakfast with Buddha by Roland Merullol, Mysticism by Evelyn Underhill, Audition by Barbara Walters, and Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman.

I started blogging because I’ve kept a diary since 1964. As a result, everything I write seems to come out in 800 word essays. At least now I have somewhere to channel this “skill.”

I’m writing this particular blog because I am very interested in enjoying life, and I believe the way to do that is through simple living. So this blog is comprised of thoughts on life’s essentials: an exploration of values, living deliberately, finding simplicity and realizing life as we live it, every moment.

I hope you enjoy it.

Hello! Thank you for the suggestion. It’s taken me a while, but I finally did it! Appreciate your taking the time to write.
